This Linux Distro will change your Little Linux Laptop in a full force multimedia machine!

Description:
A very powerfull and complete distrubution for your Little Linux Laptop!. 3MX replaces the normal Little Linux Laptop OS and is a very user-friendly operating system that comes with a LOT of pre-installed software such as: Firefox 3 web browser, VLC Media Player, Transmission, Medit (HTML editor), Dillo web browser, Wifi Stumbler (for finding of wireless hotspots), Pidgin chat, Xchat, games such as Barrage and Tux Puck, a Nintendo Gameboy emulator, different Wallpaper and menu icons, Htop (process monitor) , Abiword, etc etc etc..

Remarks:
This complete recovery only works on Little Linux Laptops that use a .IMG as the recovery file, like the Trendtac and the 3k Razorbook. If you are not sure which recovery file your Little Linux Laptop needs, please contact your retailer where you bought your little linux laptop from and ask him before trying this recovery!

This release is not for the light hearted, it still needs a lot of work done to it so do not expect everything to work properly. Things that need sorting are: Automatic networking not working; you need to manually connect. Automatic USB mounts not working; you will need to manually mount external devices. The windows manager sometimes does not load straight away, so you need to run matchbox-window-manager.

If you have any questions or remarks about 3MX Linux please visit the following sites / forums:

It seems that lots of people using the official Elonex ONEt recovery instructions are failing to get the Elonex Recovery Image to work. They are sending them back, as ‘bricked’, simply for lack of useful instructions. Brian Reid Beetson Robert amended the Trendtac Recovery instructions found elswhere on this site so that they will work for the Elonex OneT. Thanks Brian!

WARNING:
Save everything first that you need to restore because this involves formatting the SSD.

How to install:

1. Download the recovery imagefile found at the bottom of this page (336MB for Elonex, all current patches have been slipstreamed) and unzip it.

2. Format an SD card or USB Memory Drive to “FAT” or “FAT32″ (VEHO 4GB SDHC worked on Elonex ONEt+)

3. Copy the two recovery files: “uImage” + “Recovery.rec” to the SD
card or USB Memory Drive.

4. Plug the SD card or USB Memory Drive into your Little Linux Laptop
( no need to remove it, until restore is complete if step.7 successful)

5. Turn your Little Linux Laptop on.

6. Once the Power LED (Green) lights press the Fn + Shift + F1 keys at the same time, i.e. immediately after turning on your ONEt.

7. If it is successful, there will be a white screen. If so, release the three buttons. If you don’t see the white screen, try step 4-6
again.

8. Wait until the normal loading screen (the Elonex black screen)
appears.

9. Wait 5 seconds and turn your Little Linux Laptop off by pressing
and holding the power button until it shuts down.

10. Turn your Little Linux Laptop on again.

11. Once the loading screen (the Elonex black screen ) appears, press the “F3″ button and hold it.

12. If successful you will see the “Welcome To Begin Recovery the System” + MAC no. screen. Press “Enter” to continue.

13. You see the second screen. Press “Enter” to continue or press “Q” to exit.

14. You will see the third screen. At this stage insert the SD card or USB Memory Drive (with the Recovery files) if not already in place. Press [enter] to continue or press “Q” to quit the recovery.

15. You see the fourth screen. If you press “enter”, the system will be completely reformatted and recovered. All your stored information will be lost. In theory if you press [s], the system will only be re-installed and your stored information will be retained. This did not work for me, with additional programs installed it was necessary to reformat first.
Press “b” to return to the previous screen.

16. Your Little Linx Laptop will automatically reboot. (DON’T TURN IT OFF BEFORE IT REBOOTS) On the Elonex ONEt+ the progress is shown by dots on a line.

17. The recovery process is complete. Power down, and restart – it takes about 25 seconds for the first restart, rather than the normal 12 seconds.

Necessary files – (right)click to download

Elonex’s recovery image can be found HERE . If you have problems dowloading the Elonex Recovery image (slow connection / connection keeps breaking up) then download the recovery image HERE . (Special thanks to Jason Smith for the Rapidshare link)
