Complete System Recovery for the Trendtac / Alpha 400
Description:
Your laptop really doesn’t work like it should anymore? You installed to many self-made patches and your little linux laptop won’t do anything anymore? There’s only one solution: run a complete recovery of the system!
This recovery is for the Trendtac only. If you want to recover your Elonex ONeT go HERE
How to install:
1. Download the recovery imagefile (118MB) and unzip it.
2. Format an SD card or USB Memory Drive to “FAT” or “FAT32″
3. Copy the two recovery files: “minifs.img” + “Recovery_EPC700.img” to the SD card or USB Memory Drive.
4. Plug the SD card or USB Memory Drive into your Little Linux Laptop
5. Turn your Little Linux Laptop on.
6. Once the Power LED (Green) TO, press “SHIFT (Left) + + FN SHIFT (Right)” at the same time.
7. If it is successful, there will be a white screen. If so, release the two buttons.If you don’t see the white screen, try step 4-6 again.
8. Wait until the normal loading screen (the Penguin) appears.
9. Wait 5 seconds and turn your Little Linux Laptop of by pressing and holding the power button until it shuts down.
10. Turn your Little Linux Laptop on again.
11. Once the loading screen (the Penguin) appears, press the “F3″ button and hold it.
12. If successful you will see the “Welcome To Begin Recovery the System” + MAC no. screen. Press “Enter” to continue.
13. You see the second screen. Press “Enter” to continue or press “Q” to exit.
14. You will see the third screen. Please be sure the SD card or USB Memory Drive (with the Recovery files) was placed successful. Press [enter] to continue or press “Q” to quit the recovery.
15. You see the fourth screen. If you press “enter”, the system will be completely reformatted and recovered. All your stored information will be lost. If you press [s], the system will only be re-installed. All your stored information will be maintained. Press “b” to return to the previous screen.
16. After about 10-12 minutes, your Little Linx Laptop will automatically reboot. (DON’T TURN IT OFF BEFORE IT REBOOTS)
17. The recovery process is complete.

Hi, i`m brazilian, from Rio de Janeiro. i`m sorry for my bad english…
I have one EPC 700 i try to recovery my sistem with the Recovery_EPC700.zip, and whit the onet system, and with the 3mx system and the too error: BAD FILE, what can i do? please help-me my epc dont work any more. Stop in the initial page “Enjoy your Life”…. HELP-ME!

Hello,
My trendtac recovery doesn’t work aslo the 3mx4.0 doesn’t work when i try too install it says:Can’t find recovery file,,,,Try again.
What should i do?
Please help i can’t find anyone whit the same problem and it really is pissing me off because i don’t know how to fix it.
I have been trying and trying all kinds of things but it just doesn’t seem to work.

I have the same problem as jilt. Neither this nor the 3MX 4.0 recovery files work. I’ve tried several types of SD-cards, several USB sticks, both FAT and FAT32 formats. Also tried putting the files in the root. Doesn’t work.

Found the solution on the LittleLinuxLaptop forum: rename the file to ‘Alpha400_0701.img’ and it works. (I put it in the root of a FAT16 formatted SD-card)

After many tries with different sd-cards my trendtac is now updating, using the renaming-trick of Eric above, with a 1 gigabyte kingston fat-16 sd-card.
It has a half line of dots now, and it grows….
