Midnight Commander – file manager

Description:

Midnight Commander is a visual and cross-platform orthodox file manager and a clone of Norton Commander.  It’s a feature rich full-screen text mode application that allows you to copy, move and delete files and whole directory trees, search for files and run commands in the subshell. Internal viewer and editor are included.

How to install:

1.
Download the .info and .patch files below and save them both in the ‘download’ folder on your laptop, or download and save them on a USB stick / SD card, put this in your laptop and copy the files to the ‘download’ folder. It’s crucial that the .info and .patch file are in the same folder.

2. Start the ‘Software Installer’ program on the 4th screen of the desktop (use the arrows at the bottom of the screen to switch screens).

3. Click the ‘Add’ button. A dialog screen will open.

4. Search the ‘midnight_commander-R3-01(20080907).info’ file and click ‘Open’. The patch will be installed. Click finish.

5. Now, if everything has gone right, a Midnight Commander icon will be on one of the desktop screens. Click it and enjoy!

Hi, I’m eager to test this program on my little linux laptop (7″ notebook from q-media) but i can’t seem to find the “software installer” as mentionned above.
I wish i could give you some information on what os, or version of an os i have, but i got no information from q-media on my machine (not repertoried on their site and nothing in the user manual on this subject). All i know is that i’m on a linux os, a very very basic one, i dunno how to upgrade it so far (i believe i have an arm risc processor thus so long for the 3mx)
if it can be of any help, “article : 19646″ and “item code qmn 907l-fr” are written on the back of the device.
Please leave me a note on my email if you see any light at the end of my tunnel.

Unfortunatley you wont be able to use any software from this site or any of the sites linked from this site. The Q-Media has an ARM cpu and thus isn’t compatible with our (trendtac/alpha400/elonex etc) Mipsel based machines.
