Description:
A very powerfull and complete distrubution for your Little Linux Laptop!. 3MX replaces the normal Little Linux Laptop OS and is a very user-friendly operating system that comes with a LOT of pre-installed software such as: Firefox 3 web browser, VLC Media Player, Transmission, Medit (HTML editor), Dillo web browser, Wifi Stumbler (for finding of wireless hotspots), Pidgin chat, Xchat, games such as Barrage and Tux Puck, a Nintendo Gameboy emulator, different Wallpaper and menu icons, Htop (process monitor) , Abiword, etc etc etc..
Remarks:
This complete recovery only works on Little Linux Laptops that use a .IMG as the recovery file, like the Trendtac and the 3k Razorbook. If you are not sure which recovery file your Little Linux Laptop needs, please contact your retailer where you bought your little linux laptop from and ask him before trying this recovery!
This release is not for the light hearted, it still needs a lot of work done to it so do not expect everything to work properly. Things that need sorting are: Automatic networking not working; you need to manually connect. Automatic USB mounts not working; you will need to manually mount external devices. The windows manager sometimes does not load straight away, so you need to run matchbox-window-manager.

How to install:
1. Download and unzip the image file from the link below.
2. Copy the files to your SD card, then with your laptop off insert the SD card.
3. Hold down the F3 keys at the same time while turning on your laptop. Your laptop will now automatically perform the upgrade. Please make sure that you do not turn off the power during the upgrade.
4.Once you can see the desktop as normal your upgrade is complete.

Does flash work in the browser? (Because I’ve heard from testfreaks.com that he couldn’t open videos or websites with flash in them.) Thanks.

Nope, no flash. I did manage to get gnash (open source flash player/plugin) working, but these machines can’t handle it. Took ages to load a video and playback was horribly slow and choppy. Unwatchable. It also slowed web browsing to a crawl due to all the flash advertisements.
FYI: 3MX 4.0 is available (why it isnt listed in OS’s i don’t know.

Hi cant get this to work, I have the npc 400 with the impulse OS(xp lookalike), when I do the sdcard thing with the f3 theb nothing happens just boots as normal..am i missing something?

Yes, although you’ll want the newer 3MX Ultra as 3.1 is quite old.

hay nuevos modelos pero son anti flash sd uno es el npx-9000 y otro el npc-400 yo tengo el (npc-400) y no consigo cambiarlo por cierto no tengo boton debajo de la bateria y vista no lo reconoce por conexion usb si alguien que tenga el npc-400 consiguio modificarlo que por favor escriva un manual de como lo hizo en el foro

Yes and yes, although 4.0 is now quite outdated as well. Ultra3 is the newest release. Just toss the recovery.img (3MX) on an sd card, hold F3 while powering on until you see the recovery console, follow the prompts, and it’ll install. Takes about 20 minutes to complete.

I can not download the Ultra3 .img file. On the FileFactory site I can not get past the Captcha or there are no download slots and on the 3MX-linux web page the download fails every time after about 40-60 MB. Can anyone help?

The vid online download linux debian 2.4 (kernal upgrade) and IPradio both refuse to function without the requisite password.CNM have failed to obtain it and no one knows it.Also no one knows how to get it to REALLY print and the chess download doesnt open.Please add to your site the simple to follow answers. Look forward to being able to get MORE functionality from my cnm machine thanks to you.

I’ve tuned yet another Linux but I guess it’s not for the exact same device. Mine runs on ARM 300MHz 128MB RAM.
Surprisingly enough, I didn’t know about this one but it has several matches with it, notably the VNC features and JWM as the WM of choice.
